What is a bollard?
Bollard Supply and Installation
A bollard by definition is a Ridgid protective device that is designed to provide resistance to bending/deformation on impact with a vehicle which is normally in the shape of a small verticle post.
In the early days, a bollard was used at docks in the shape of mushrooms and used in mooring ships. Bollards are now used for safety concerns due to the force of an impact that can be absorbed by a bollard, post or stanchion and a vehicle can be progressively decelerated to prevent further damage to the surrounding areas or people.
Today bollards can be used to prevent vehicle access and here at Unison, we install rising bollards and static bollards.
Rising Bollards are a great security device if you want to prevent vehicles from following another in an attempt to gain access illegally.
